Sleeping Beauty

We went to Shield's Restaurant on Monday night to eat with Kendyll's favorite princess, Sleeping Beauty. Why is that her favorite princess? Because she's pink, of course! That's Kendyll's favorite color. We didn't tell her that Sleeping Beauty would be there... we wanted to surprise her. Before Sleeping Beauty made her grand entrance, Kendyll kept saying, "I don't want to be here... I don't want to be here!" We coaxed her into staying a little while longer, and she was excited when we told her that Sleeping Beauty was there. We got a couple of pictures of the two of them together, and this one is the best one. ADD is the name of the game with Kendyll... oh, and SpongeBob was on the tv in the corner.

Doesn't really look like Sleeping Beauty, but what do you expect? It's not Disney World afterall!?!
There was also a clown there, Rosie, who painted a Hello Kitty on Kendyll's arm. But that really didn't look like Hello Kitty either!
Rosie also made a balloon dog for Kendyll out of a pink balloon.

Beautiful Weather

When the weather broke for the day, we took advantage of it! After picking Kendyll up from daycare, we headed home and straight to her "park" (backyard playscape). I didn't take into account that the ground would be slightly muddy, but that didn't stop us. Kendyll was a little hesitant to go down her slide, maybe because it had been a while since she last used it. The first time we coaxed her down it, Robert had to go first. This time she wanted me to go. NO WAY! I finally got her to go down it, and she had a blast!

"CHEESE!!!"
Coming up for more...
What fun would it be to go down the slide the right way???
We made a snowman... you can barely see him. Kendyll gathered up the sticks for arms. Another "cheese" shot.
What her booty looked like at the end of our outside time. What a mess, but it was worth it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Kendyll says, "Happy Valentine's Day!" We hope that you all have a wonderful day filled with great memories.

While the cats away...

...the mice will play!
Robert and Papa have a rivalry when it comes to NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon. They can't stand HIM! So every holiday and birthday, they give each other some great Jeff Gordon presents, like a hard hat, notepad, ornaments, stockings, and this year a switch plate. So Kendyll (!) thought it would be funny to put the switch plate up at Papa's house while he was in Florida. Here you can see her handy work, screwdriver and all! Who knew a 2 year old could be so handy??? She gets it from her daddy, who is, in her words, "a good jobber!"

"I Made A Mess!"

What happens when you leave a 2 year old alone in the bathroom? You get a toilet paper mess! Robert left Kendyll alone to go potty, and when he went back to check on her, he found the whole roll unraveled and on the floor. This is what I found when I got home. Obviously, he moved it off the floor. We have now learned to either continously monitor her or take the paper with us!

Florida? I have that puzzle piece!

Kendyll can't believe that Mimi and Papa went to Florida... without HER! She's totally missing them and hoping that they come home soon. She really wanted to go with them, but obviously that wasn't in the cards. Hopefully, they'll bring her back something good... hee, hee!

On Saturday, we met up with my parents and Frank's family for lunch at Shield's. It is a great place for the girls... Kylie does well with the noise level, and Kendyll has some room to move about. If you know Kendyll, you know that she does NOT sit still for long. I captured a few cute shots of Kendyll with her some beloved family members.

Here is what she looked like before we were leaving complete with her purse filled with "glipgloss", nail polish, and her cell phone. Check out the shoes she had on! Too funny!

Finally, A Big Girl Bed

The time had finally arrived... we had to let Kendyll get a "big girl" bed. Our poor girl, still sleeping in a crib. Part of me was keeping her in there for selfish reasons. I didn't want to admit that my baby wasn't a baby anymore. She was growing up. The other part of me didn't want her in a big bed because she would have new found freedom. Freedom to roam the house. But I needed to be fair to her so on Friday, the 23rd, I had Robert put her bed together. Earlier in the week, Kendyll and I shopped together, and I let her pick out what bedding she wanted. Because she would be in a full size bed, there really wasn't much out there for kids to choose from. Luckily, she found a princess comforter at Target. We snatched it up, along with some sheets, a bed skirt, and a princess pillow. She only really picked this set because she absolutely LOVES Sleeping Beauty. She's pink afterall, Kendyll's favorite color. We didn't let her know that Robert was putting the bed up for her. As a way to get her to leave Auntie Maggie's that day (because she NEVER wants to leave, go figure!), I told her that a surprise was waiting at home for her. She asked me if I would help her unwrap it... too funny! When we got home, Robert went into her bedroom to capture her reaction (on our camcorder and camera) when she saw her bed for the first time. Her reaction was priceless... it was totally worth it! She hopped on that bed right away, and began jumping up and down, yelling, "My big girl bed! My big girl bed!" Then she would run over to the top of the stairs and shout, "Hey everybody, I got my big girl bed!" Still not sure who she was telling, but that was hilarious. She had to call Mimi and Auntie Maggie and tell them about her surprise. For the entire weekend, we had to keep going upstairs to look at her bed. She is so proud of it!

Here is a picture of her crib before Robert transformed it into the "big girl" bed... looking at it still makes me tear up!
The fun is just beginning...

We actually got her to sit still for a moment and pose for a picture.
Look at how excited she is...
Enjoying her bed...

So far Kendyll has been following the "big girl" bed rules: no jumping on it at bedtime, do not get out of bed, when you wake up call for momma, and you can not call for momma unless it is daylight out. One incident to report. Early Monday morning, at 4:30, Kendyll was calling for me. "MOMMA" I heard through the monitor.

I race to her door and say, "What's the matter?"

"HELP!" she screams.

"Where are you?"

"I stuck!"

I run over to her bed and she somehow managed to get herself turned around in the middle of the night. Her head is down at the end of her bed, stuck under her covers because the side rails have her covers tight on each side of the bed. I pull back the comforter, and only see her feet kicking to get out. After I pulled her out, she told me that she was "hiding" (not sure why) and she got stuck down there. That night I was a little worried about putting her to bed, but she wasn't afraied of getting stuck again. Phew! Crisis averted.

Happy Birthday, MIMI!!!

Today is Mimi's birthday! We are celebrating with a nice lunch out and then cake and presents. Kendyll is so happy that she gets her special time with Mimi once a week. We love you very much!

Congratulations to Tracy, Basit, and Sofia!

Introducing Baby Girl Raja! That's right, as of now she still has no name. Tracy's sweet little angel was born Monday, January 12, 2009. She weighed in at 7 lbs, 8 ozs, and was 20.5 inches long. Tracy says that she is a great baby, hardly makes a sound. When I visited, she was wide awake, checking everything out with her big brown eyes. By the time I got around to taking pictures, she was tuckered out. She also managed to scratch her cheek in the meantime. But that scratch doesn't detract from how adorable she is.
How good does Tracy look???

Look at that full head of hair!
What a cute peanut!!

It's Been A While...

Welcome back to Kendyll's Korner! It's has been months since I have updated. Why? Well I found myself using the computer more and more each night, losing sleep, taking time away from a very important little person. After I would update the blog, I would read other blogs, and some more blogs, etc. until I realized that hours would be gone. So I imposed a "sabatical" on myself for a while. Then both of our computers were stricken with viruses and had to be "hospitalized". Mine is still not functioning and I am now relegated to Robert's. Hopefully mine will be up and running soon. In the meantime, I have posted a few pics of my sweetheart. It's amazing how much she has grown in the last few months...

She is into imaginative play. There are bears coming for our blueberries, thanks to Dora and Mimi. We also have sharks swimming in our house, and our safe spot is our rug "island" in the kitchen. I am also Kendyll's "best friend". Okay, here's a funny story about that. Last night, I went to visit Tracy and her newborn baby girl in the hospital (no name yet...). I got home at 7ish. The minute I walk in the door, I yell "Kendyll" and she comes running and greets me with a huge hug, then returns to her daddy and tells him, "You're not my best friend anymore!" Too funny! She is totally a mommy's girl!

Well... here are the "new" pics. Enjoy!

We are going to start a family tradition of making a gingerbread house every year. Kendyll had such a fun time doing this, as did her daddy and I. Look at her focus and concentration! Although I have to admit afterwards she was on a sugar high. She kept eating the frosting directly from the jar... so you can only imagine!

Kendyll and Momma working diligently!

Kendyll and Daddy working on the house.

The finished masterpiece! She could hardly wait to eat it. What do you want from a 2 year old!?! So we put a sticker on the calendar so she would know when the feast could take place. Then daily, we would make "marks" on the calendar to tell when the special day would arrive. We took it to Mimi and Papa's to share with everyone. It was delicious!

Early in December, we took Kendyll on the Polar Express, an event held by the parks and rec department. This is one of her favorite movies that we had to watch over, and over, and over. It was absolutely cold the night we went for our trip. We stood in line with much anticipation and cookies and most importantly, hot chocolate! After we boarded the train, we listened to the story being read with Rudolf walked around with storybook. Then Santa made his grand entrance! We then sang carols together, and Santa handed out gifts to all the children. Kendyll had a wonderful time and still talks about her experience on the Polar Express.

Kendyll got the first silver bell from Santa after the reading of the Polar Express. She was absolutely thrilled!!! And she can hear it ring!

Good News!

Tonight Taylor is getting baptized. We are so proud of her for making this wonderful decision that will change her life forever.
